Background

Dr. Tae Young Yoon is the Founder and CEO of PROTEINA and a Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at Seoul National University. Dr. Yoon earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Seoul National University in 2004.

Before founding PROTEINA in 2015, Dr. Yoon held professorships at KAIST and Yonsei University from 2007 to 2017 and has been a professor at Seoul National University since 2017. Dr. Yoon has been at the forefront of researching the convergence of biology and technology and is a global leader in the field of biophysics. He has been driving innovation and research at PROTEINA since its founding.

Dr. Yoon is a distinguished scientist recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of life sciences. His has received accolades from Seoul National University (2022), the Korea Academy of Science and Technology (2022), the Ministry of Science and ICT (2021), 13th Kyung-Am Award in the Life Sciences Category (2017), the FILA Basic Science Award from the Academy of Science and Technology (2015), and the 40th Anniversary Academic Award from KAIST (2011). Furthermore, he was recognized among the 30 Young Scientists of Korea by Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2016, underscoring his status as a leading figure in his field.
